Miss Granny – Original Film and 7 Remake Versions | NATCA

Miss Granny (Original Film Version) is a Korean language film that released in 2014. Then, the remake versions are released in a few languages.

Basically, all of these films are about an old woman who felt being a burden towards her family. One day, when she is having a walk, a photo studio catches her eyes. She walks toward the photo studio. She decides to take a photo as for her funeral in future that might come soon. After that, she realises that her appearance is different. She looks like a young pretty girl around 20-years old. With that, she begins her new live as a young girl and she want to live a life that she never had a chance before.

All of the films stated below are mostly available in Netflix. You can watch it there.

 

1. Miss Granny (2014) - Original Film


Synopsis :

Oh Mal Soon is a 74-year-old widow that realizes she is becoming a burden on her family. As she is roaming the streets, she comes across a photo studio and dresses up for a self-portrait. When she walks out, she mysteriously regains her physical appearance from the age of 20. Making the most out of this one in a lifetime opportunity, she changes her name to Oh Doo Ri and decides to enjoy the best out of her youth.

2. Back To 20 (2015) – Chinese Remake


Synopsis :

Shen Meng Jun is a crotchety 70-year-old widow whose family decides it’s time for her to go to a nursing home. Feeling forlorn, she wanders the streets and impulsively decides to take a final portrait at a photo studio she happens by. Upon leaving, to her astonishment, she realizes that she has been transformed back into her 20-year-old self. Given a magical second chance at youth, she changes her name to Meng Li Jun and decides to chase her dream of becoming a singer. Will she find success and love this second time around?

Synopsis :

Mrs. Dai, a 70-year old grandmother, suddenly finds that she has been transformed into her 20-year old self. Her old fashioned sense of style and manners cause some trouble, but falling in love could be the biggest problem of them all.

4. Sing My Life (2016) - Japanese Remake


Synopsis :

Katsu is a 73-years-old woman who often makes trouble with her biting remarks. While raising a daughter alone, Katsu was unable to live the life she wished for. One day, Katsu goes to a photo studio and takes a picture. She leaves the photo studio, but finds that she is now 20-years-old again. Katsu changes out of her grandmother clothes, picks out a more youthful style and names herself Setsuko Otori. Later, Katsu decides to take part in a singing contest held in a shopping district. Her singing fascinates the audience and she wins the contest. Katsu begins to move closer to her past dream of becoming a singer.

5. Suddenly Twenty (2016) – Thailand Remake


Synopsis :

“Parn” is a stubborn old woman in her 70’s who one day learns that her son is planning to send her off to a nursing home. While wondering around the street in grave, she is drawn to a mysterious light and walks into a photo studio to take a nice photo for her funeral. After she comes out of the studio, she’s gone back to being a vibrant 20-year-old young woman again! With no one recognizing her, she sees it as a second chance at life and decides to take advantage of her new-found youth that she never got to enjoy in her old days.

6. Sweet 20 (2017) – Indonesian Remake


Synopsis :

Fatmawati is a 70-years-old fussy grandma who lives with her son, Aditya, daughter in-law and two grandchildren. Fatmawati dearly loves Aditya and is very proud of her only son whom she raised on her own. Wherever she goes, she always boasts her son's achieve­ment as an excellent university professor. One day, Fatmawati finds out that her family will send her to a nursing home. The revelation deeply saddens and devastates her. While walking on the street, she stumbles upon a photo studio: "Forever Young." She plans to take her self-portrait for her not-so-far-off funeral but something strange happens. After her portrait is taken, Fatmawati mysteriously looks 20 years old again. Fatmawati considers to starting over her life and making up for all the lost youthful years she spent taking care of her family. Fatmawati renames herself Mieke after her all-time favorite actress, Mieke Wijaya. Mieke got the chance to pursue a career as a singer. It was something that she could not do when she was young as she had to take care of her only son after her husband passed away.

Synopsis :

Synopsis :

A seventy-year-old woman, Savitri a.k.a. 'Baby' gets a second chance to relive her youth when gets transported into the body of a 20-year-old girl and embarks on an exuberant journey of rediscovering herself.
